I read a great research article on happiness this morning.  It was about the reverse affects that often occur when we pursue happiness as an end rather than treating it as a symptom of a balanced life.

The research suggests that there are some quite negative outcomes from the pursuit of happiness.  I read all of this through and thought about it a lot.  I do agree with it.  Happiness is a symptom not a destination.

The most subtle and the most powerful forms of happiness occur when we are in our flow and pursuing our purpose in life.  This leads to a deep attention and loss of the experience of time.  People who experience this form of flow describe themselves as happy.
